In addition, the applicant had to make the UK their main home. In 2008, the Government introduced the Points Based System. As from 6 Nov 2014, UK announced increase in tier 1 investor visa from £1 million to £2 million.

UK SKILLED WORKER - INVESTMENT VISA

The Skilled Worker Visa is open to individuals of all nationalities (except British and Irish), who have a genuine offer of an eligible skilled job in the UK from the Home Office-approved sponsor. This route does lead to permanent settlement in the UK. Skilled worker visa is for an applicant, dependent partner and children, under the age of 18.

This investment includes a minimum investment of £100,000 into an established and successful UK company.

Programme Requirements

• Be over the age of 18
• You have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the job you are planning to do
• Your job offer is genuine vacancy
• Your sponsor has paid any required immigration Skills charge
• Your job is at an appropriate skill level
• You have a good command of the English Language and pass the English language test to at least CEFR level B1 (equivalent to IELTS 4.0)
• You will be paid a salary which equals or exceeds both a general salary threshold and the ‘going rate’ for the occupation
• You must show you can support yourself financially while you are in the UK.

UK INNOVATOR VISA

The Innovator Visa is for an applicant, spouse and dependent children under the age of 18. This visa is for an individual who can demonstrate relevant experience in business and who has the necessary skills that can support their UK business. Innovator visas are valid for 3 years and can lead directly to permanent residency, also known as Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), in the UK.

Investment Options

The Innovator visa is for more experienced entrepreneurs seeking to establish their own business in the UK, by investing a minimum of £50,000 into developing their business.

The Innovator visa is also available for entrepreneurs who wish to collaborate with a UK resident, to start a new business, by investing a minimum of £150,000-£200,000 into developing the business.

Programme Requirements

• Be over the age of 18
• Be ready to invest a minimum of £50,000 into your business or have up to £200,000 to invest into a collaborative new business idea with a UK business partner
• Have your business idea endorsed by an approved Endorsing Body
• Have a good command of the English Language and pass the English language test to at least CEFR level B2 (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
• You must show you can support yourself financially while you are in the UK.
